Paper: Seeking a Psycho-ontology beyond Freud's Philosophical Impasse

While representations and their associated ideas are repressed and point to an intra-psychic 'other,' the psycho-analytic unconscious is a product of the representational mind and does not exist as such.

Alfred Tauber recently retired from Boston University as Professor emeritus of Philosophy and Zoltan Kohn Professor emeritus of Medicine, and currently teaches philosophy of science at Tel Aviv University. He is working on a sequel to his most recent book, Freud, the Reluctant Philosopher (Princeton 2010), which focuses on revisions of Freud's philosophy of mind from various 20th century philosophical perspectives.
